Gopeng Puteri Umno meeting postponed


IPOH: The Gopeng Puteri Umno meeting, which was scheduled for Sunday, was postponed after the apparent emergence of unknown branches.

Its chief Wan Razita Wan Razak said an additional 10 branches had seemingly been formed without her knowledge or that of Gopeng Umno division secretary Ahmad Zairun Yang Rezali.

”To my knowledge, there are only 21 branches in Gopeng Puteri Umno but suddenly it has become 31 branches.

”I was told that sponsorship of these so-called new branches had been made last year and that my vice-chief had visited these branches.

”How come this is happening when it is stated clearly in the party’s constitution that the wing’s administration must first be informed before any new branches are formed?” asked Wan Razita.

Wan Razita also admitted that there was a split within Gopeng Puteri Umno.

Vice-chief Juliana Mohd Junid, she said, would be contesting against her during the wing’s meeting, which has been rescheduled to Oct 25.
